Police Blotter: May, 30 2014 Man found wandering the streets after an incident at the Blind Pig in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Victim appears to have suffered from blunt force trauma to the head and neck as a result of sonic field distortions causing massive convulsions. Assailants identified as the bands Fuckknot, Blue Snaggletooth, and the Mike Hard Show. Victim reported that he enjoyed every minute.

I read online that ‘The Muggs’ were going to be playing in Ypsilanti, Michigan at a cool little place called Woodruff’s last Friday night (April 11, 2014) and that just so happened to be my birthday. I figured it was divine intervention and that I needed to go check out the show. What I didn’t know was that what was really happening at Woodruff’s was FUZZ FEST!! A three day rock and roll extravaganza featuring 33 Michigan bands on two stages!

This is the 40th anniversary of the album release and Zappa Plays Zappa is taking it out to audiences across the country.

Last week (Thursday 12/12 to be precise), I went out to the Magic Stick in Detroit to check out The Red Paintings, Lionize, Spacehog, and home-town icons Sponge. Jon Freeman from Freeman Promotions (the cool dude that hooked me up with the photo pass for Clutch) let me know about Lionize coming to town and wanted to know if I wanted to check out the show.
Live music rocks! No shit, you may be thinking. What I mean is that hearing a tune live (or recorded live) cranks up the energy level a few notches. Remember when you heard “Parasite” by Kiss on “Hotter Than Hell”? Now, remember listing to that same tune on “Alive!” It kicked even more ass!
